They are currently seeking a highly experienced individual (MINIMUM 10-13 years in  Aerospace/Avionics) to work as their Senior Design Engineer.

You will be responsible for providing design approval and specialist advice on my clients Avionics, Software and Systems Engineering activities, this will include conducting design analysis and associated test activities for proposed modifications to my clients hardware, simulators and associated equipment.

This is a highly responsible position involving the supervision of up to 10 subcontractors working on highly complex equipment and will involve travel both within Australia and overseas.

Collins Class submarines are the largest and most advanced conventionally powered submarines in the world. Having demonstrated their tactical advantages and performance against the most sophisticated US nuclear submarines in recent US-Australian military exercises, design enhancements continue with state-of-the-art technology as part of the ongoing capability improvement program.

 

SUBSAFE and Safety Engineering is a new department introduced to increase the focus on SUBSAFE and safety in Design & Engineering (D&E). It enhances a culture of safety by coordinating hazard risk management and safety case evaluations.

 

The department is represented on our Safety Management Group and coordinates all design safety issues between ASC, D&E and the CoA. It works closely with ASC's Safety and Certification Group (SEC).

 

The department leads on designer certification activities associated with maintenance and materiel certification. The Systems Engineering Section oversees the implementation of Navy technical regulatory requirements and ensures compliance with Navy engineering policy. It is responsible for maintaining the ASC-Engineering Management Plan and overseeing the development of D&E work processes. The section will define and manage the certification basis for the COLLINS Class Submarines.

 

This department has a Quality Engineering function, responsible for internal process and triggered audits and the coordination of quality engineering within the Group.

 

SUBSAFE & SAFETY ENGINEERING MANAGER

 

Reporting to the GM - D&E and working closely with our Safety and Certification Group, you'll manage departmental budgets, projects and resources, support safety and QA programs and develop and maintain audit programs.

 

You'll also develop and implement design certification processes, represent D&E on ASC’s Safety Management Group and coordinate design safety issues between ASC D&E and the CoA.

 

You're a Chartered Engineer (CPE) with extensive engineering experience in a defence design environment, including quality processes and safety engineering. You have effective communication, leadership and personnel management skills and eligibility for Defence security clearance to Secret level.

 

Applicants must hold Australian Citizenship and be eligible for Department of Defence Security Clearance.

Systems Engineer

Our client is currently running a wide range of projects for defence that range across Land Sea and Air.  We currently have an open role for a systems engineer to join the team in Sydney.

Your role will involve monitoring the development of a number of systems against commonwealth requirements.  There is a heavy emphasis on the monitoring of a number of Large subcontractors who are delivering both Hardware and software systems.  You will be required to make sure that supplied systems adhere to Defence standards as well as having a strong requirement management skills.  You will also aid in the liaison with Defence throughout the delivery of the systems.  This is one of the highest profile projects currently within the defence sector and is due for completion in late 2007.

Any experience in defence standards, requirements management, simulation, aerospace, communications etc.. within defence projects would be highly regarded.  The ideal candidate would have delivered a number of projects from start to finish holding the position of systems engineer or senior systems engineer.  The ability to work methodically to tight deadlines is also essential.

An immediate requirement has arisen for System Designer to join one of their teams where you will be working alongside Software Engineers, Business Analyst and Project Leaders to deliver bespoke products to their word-leading clients.
