WristSense 2020: 6th Workshop on Sensing Systems and Applications using Wrist Worn Smart Devices - Welcome and Committees

Given the recent growth in the wrist-based wearable market, WristSense workshops have been successfully held together with IEEE PerCom conference since 2015. The main goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners to share innovative ideas, discuss challenges, and brainstorm potential solutions to open research problems related to the domain of wrist worn smart devices. Moreover, in 2018 we established a Panel Discussion incorporating U.S. and European government agencies (NIH, EC), and faculty surrounding establishing gold standard measures of health constructs. The success of this panel discussion resulted in continuing the panel in 2019 and this year as well with participation from NSF and NIH.

WristSense 2020 program consists of 8 high quality papers along with a keynote talk by Wendy Nilsen from the National Science Foundation USA and a panel discussion. We hope to continue to engage the academic and industry researchers on this challenging research topic of wrist-based sensing and applications. The WristSense Best Paper Award recognizes excellence in research which is sponsored by Apple.

We would like to thank the TPC members of the workshop, who have provided their expert reviews and helped us select high quality research works on a diversity of topics of wrist-based sensing for the WristSense 2020 program. We would also like to thank the PerCom 2020 workshops chairs Amy Murphy and Edison Thomaz for their guidance and support in organizing this workshop. We are delighted to include high quality research works from our authors and thank the attendees for their participation.
